Future Possibilities

This week, I plan to start discussions with the MCLS Emerging Technology Committee about producing a full-fledged conference next year that will revolve around the topics of the Future of Libraries, Trends, and Technology. I’m envisioning a 3-4 day conference with various tracks such as the future, gaming & programming, service delivery & customer service, marketing, emerging trends and technology applications, etc. All the stuff we talk about at our monthly meetings, in the Tech Camps, over lunch and on this blog. Staff will be able to select from half or full day sessions over the course of several days, with sessions possibly being held at different locations throughout MCLS, and all capped off with a stellar keynote speaker like Christopher Carfi, Roger von Oech, Clay Shirkey, Nancy Dowd (read this post), or one of the folks from Social Signal.

If we decide we’re going to take this on, what kinds of things should be included in our planning? What kinds of workshops/speakers do you want to see?
